I have not been able to get my hands on the letter from the president, in which he stated they would not allow an encampment.  And yes, I understand that our freedoms are being eroded.  And your statement is well taken.  "If they are organized and well behaved."  However, looking at the OWS protests around the country, especially in Oakland, they have not been well behaved.  Neither have they been organized.  Really, what is going on is the work of anarchists.  They really do not have an idea of what they're protesting about.  It only takes a little bit of poking around to discover that the money behind this may well be coming from sources that we would not approve of.  I believe they surely do have the right to protest.  However, I was on the campus of Berkeley for 15 years.  During that time I saw many protests, most of which were peaceful.  I don't think anyone is against that kind of thing.  Problem is, if you see what's happening in all the other protests that are linked to OWS, there is violence, anti-Semitism, and other things with which I strongly disagree.  And yes, I know that there are those in the OWS movement that claim that the violence and other things are from a small minority that happened to have slipped in.  I guess it depends on who you believe.

But why would tents not be allowed? Don't you think that the freedoms fought for by your forefathers are being seriously eroded by the current scumbags in government? I don't agree with malicious damage or protesters making a mess of an area where they are doing their thing but if they are organised and well behaved, they have the right to protest and the authorities have no right to intervene, especially with violence.

I am no expert on what is been happening in Berkeley – I'm in Georgia now.  However, the first video above was taken as the officers were taking down the tents.  The protesters had been warned that tents would not be allowed.  It's very interesting, to me, that that first video shows events that happened right under the office windows where I used to work.  I know about protests at Berkeley.
