Regrets That Cling to Me
Talking with my shadow in the night
I know it sounds contrite
A vacuum without the light
The silence holding me tight,
I know it sounds contrite

There’s a stranger just beyond my door
Now comes the echo off the floor
Ghosts of the lovers I once adored
Leaving me to ache for so much more,
Deep within this nocturnal cocoon
A sky bereft of the moon
Spirits whisper as if some vague forgotten tune
A frozen moment in time ending way too soon,
My shadow replies back
It seems like an intellectual act
In a chaotic world devoid of facts
Words that seem profound but not exact,
I’m so affected when you’re near
I Wish things were clearer
Can’t stand to look in the mirror
As the end draws ever nearer,
Stealing another hidden moment
A paradoxical component
But my shadow in the night owns it
Like some immortal covenant,
As I step into the ethereal realm of the memory
All these regrets that cling to me
Oh, when will I be free?
Lost my dazzling gem to the sea.

An awesome poem for the day. It is actually World Poetry Day a special day granted by UNESCO to inspire and encourage the up take of poetry to promote linguistic diversity for cultural union and poet appreciation aims. I have to say Doc V you do the English language a very great and fine service. thumbs up.
