Gender-neutral campaigner loses High Court bid to have an 'X' option on passports after claiming male and female-only categories discriminate
Christie Elan-Cane was born female but identifies as 'non-gendered'
Elan-Cane's lawyers challenged lawfulness of policy administered by Her Majesty's Passport Office - arguing that it breaches human rights laws
Mr Justice Jeremy Baker dismissed judicial review action today - partly because 'a comprehensive review [of current policy] has not been completed'
In April, James Eadie QC said passport policy was justified by need to maintain a 'coherent system for recognition of gender... to combat identity theft... and ensure security at national borders'

A campaigner has lost a High Court action against the Government's current policy on gender-neutral passports.
Christie Elan-Cane - who was born female but identifies as 'non-gendered' - believes the UK's passport application process, which requires individuals to indicate whether they are male or female, is inherently discriminatory.
But a judge, who heard arguments in the case in London in April, dismissed Elan-Cane's judicial review action today.
