MSNBC pundit Michael Eric Dyson, who previously argued that it is impossible for black people to be racist, illustrated why so many viewers are abandoning the beleaguered network when he said that Americans would not understand racism until white kids were being killed in the same numbers as blacks.
During a segment discussing the George Zimmerman verdict, Dyson, a professor of sociology at Georgetown University, remarked, “White Americans and others will feel that this was a justifiable verdict, this is how things happen. Not until, and unless, the number of white kids die that approximate the numbers of black and other kids who die, will America see.”
Dyson also called on Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to take unspecified “bold” and courageous” action.
Dyson’s argument is not only racist and offensive, it completely ignores the reality that black on black crime accounts for the vast majority of murders of black people in the United States.
According to the Justice Department, 94 per cent of all black murder victims in the United States are killed by other black people. More blacks are murdered in Chicago every weekend than the Ku Klux Klan killed over a period of 50 years.
Dyson’s attempt to play the race card by arguing that white Americans think the Zimmerman verdict was justifiable simply because whites are not being murdered at the same ratio as blacks makes absolutely no sense whatsoever given that the vast majority of blacks are killed by other blacks, not by whites or hispanics.
The high murder rate of young black men has virtually nothing to do with the actions of white people, so why is Dyson making such a spurious correlation? His rhetoric is the very definition of racism.
Dyson is also not so animated about the fact that 1,300 black babies are killed every day in America through abortion.
The MSNBC pundit’s convoluted logic, disguised as it is by high-brow yet ultimately nonsensical academic rhetoric, is no surprise given that he has previously argued that it is impossible for black people to be racist. Dyson just disproved his own ridiculous claim.
Is it really any wonder that MSNBC’s ratings recently plunged to a 6 year low when people like Dyson are their caliber of pundit?

When the US government (corporations) remove jobs from the black community and replace them with guns and drugs, you will have violence. People have to eat and feed their families! These conditions are created and perpetuated by the genocidal forces in control of the world. This is not conspiracy theory; it is conspiracy fact. It is well documented.
That being said, black youth are being murdered by police and non-whites civilians as well. We must speak truthfully about this matter, or we as a country are doomed.
Let's be honest. Do you really believe if Zimmerman was black and Martin was white, it would have resulted in a similar outcome? If so, I want some of the drugs you are using because they are blinding you to reality!
"I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever." - Thomas Jefferson
Please excuse the typo - non-white civilians
I believe that Watson missed Dyson's point in the above post. Dyson exposes the residual racial attitudes by folks evaluating the Zimmerman verdict when he says that if a white teenager was killed, regardless of the race of the perpetrator, the jury verdict would have been different. Many foks still have in the back of their minds the idea that black teenagers are inherently violent, hance Zimmerman's action justified.
@Robert, maybe it is b/c black teens ARE more inherently violent??? Did that FACT ever cross your PEA BRAIN?
That is actually not a fact. It is perpetuated by the media but is not statistically true across the board. Only black violence is shown repeatedly by the media. That is what is forming this misconception.
Where did you read that? Not all sources are credible.
Enjoying the circus?
What's the 'right' hand doing whilst we focus on this?
Very interesting. Not all gun cases, a lot are knives. When you highlight the picture many times the actual incident is different from the heading. Must investigate further. All is not what it seems.
Not a fact.
