Rumors yesterday of school shooting today in Thornton, CO. Half of students miss school today. Instead, shooter goes to Arapahoe High School.

Two Denver metro area high schools are seeing an increased police presence Thursday after school officials learned about rumors of a school shooting threat on Facebook.

Extra police officers are stationed on the campuses of Thornton High School and Prairie View High School in Brighton as a precaution. The Thornton Police Department says they only found out about the threats on Wednesday night and are saying that though they "are not credible," they're still trying to figure out where the threats originated.

“If you go to Thornton high don’t go tomorrow they are planning to shoot up the school,” reads one Facebook remark, according to KDVR.

2 injured in 'active shooter situation' at Arapahoe High School

There were two people injured during an incident at Arapahoe High School in the 2200 block of East Dry Creek Road in Centennial.

Police are calling it an "active shooter situation."

No one is in custody at this time.
