Count Richard Nicolaus von Coudenhove-Kalergi (1894-1972 is regraded as the founding of father of the EU and the Europe Prize is awarded in his name - Among the winners of the award, is the Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel (2010).

The essence of the Coudenhove-Kalergi plan:
