Interesting thoughts. I've seen many historic and old photos where people express a mild grin at best, but mostly no smile at all. It seems to commonly occur that way. Sometimes they look almost ready to covey what they're thinking, occasionally in an unnerving way.

Just from perspective the photo seems to be from around the 1890s-1900 timeline.  They had advantages back then.

No IRS, No Federal Reserve, no forced vaccine propaganda, no big Pharma poisonings, and a well working Bill of Rights.

Kind of. My paternal family did a geneology study (before they were cool), it started with a Welshman, Reuben Roberts, from Manchester in Britain to Crossville, Tennessee, pre-Revolutionary War. My paternal great-grandfather and his wife had a grim daguerrotype-like pic taken showing them and their newly-purchased model A Ford. It is in the book. No danger of smiles, lol. They looked as though they thought smiling was a sin.
