I ve been in the Navy 9 years now since Aug 25th 1999. Ive been proud to serve not knowing who i was serving or who ive been dis servicing. Ive built bombs personally that have been dropped on Iraq in Jan of 06 when i was on the USS Theodore Roosevelt CVN-71.
I ve always had problems keeping my weight off and under control. Currently i will be kicked out of the Navy in May if i cant not weigh under 191lbs iam at 5 10. they say that anything higher is overweight. I have to get tape and measured to get my Body Fat % i have a 16.5 in neck and a 40in waist so they say(cause i where 36in pants) which equals a 27% BF, i have to be at 21% or 191lbs. iam at 199 now so i have a little way to go.
They are using the Physical Readiness Test as a Tool to kick out the average sailors and soldiers. They keep saying how they have to downsize the navy. In people and in the number of ships we have.
I have seen two articles on yahoo and now in my own Navy Times 5 JAN 09 issue says High jobless rate is good news for services but, guess whose hiring and are glad that people are flocking to the services.
That doesnt make sense if they trying to kick out people for being slightly over weight then why are they happy new faces are wanting to join. also the Navy just authorized in a Naval Message that sailors can now get out early ie break there contract a year early. So they want only the best and IMHO the dumbest or the meatheads as i like to call them easily brainwashed to stay in. Well iam not drinking there juice much longer. if i do get kicked out for not passing in May ill get a severance package of about 28K upfront. i will not get out as a failure and will not give in.
