@ CH, the majority will remain silent because they have been told by Faux News that these checkpoints are protecting the borders.  Many of these checkpoints in Calif were built decades ago but nobody complained about it then. If there were complaints it was only about them causing the traffic to slow down, not because they were unconstitutional.

It is an english speaking country, and anything related to tourism english is spoken, a little spanish is helpful in the Mayan villages and roadside stands. Punta Gorda is a nice location for its amenities [take 'nice' to mean nice for Belize] and location to parks, Mayan ruins, the barrier reef, cayes and Guatemala (a short ferry ride away).
