All but one person arrested at Sunday night’s Occupy Iowa protest at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines pleaded not guilty to trespassing, an attorney said.
The plan is for all who pleaded not guilty to demand a jury trial, said Sally Frank, a Drake University law professor who observed the protest last night and offered legal advice to those arrested.
Thirty-seven people were arrested at the state capitol, including two juveniles, she said. Officials said last night that 32 people were arrested. Most were released this morning.
Frank encouraged those arrested to ask for a jury trial, because the protesters had a constitutional right to demonstrate, she said
