Where does Dr. Paul stand on abortion in the case of a rape victim? Even worse, an underage rape victim who has no real clue what the heck is going on? Extremism is always worrying, even in someone as intelligent as Ron Paul. I hope he gets in. If he is the man he purports to be, the corporations and banksters won't let him live long. If he's just another stooge, he'll be fine.

The difference is that Obama was on the ticket for the national election, and Ron Paul was not.

If we regain control of our Gov. We also regain control over our foreign policy. Then the people you say control us have 0 power. If they have 0 power we are both happy. I am saying that there is a section in their gov. much like the one in ours. In order to be free from both we need to throw them out. Stop doing as they say when they say. Liberty is powerful if we Americans show that it can re-surge other countries will do the same.

It's funny how people like Michelle Bachmann get more attention than this man.
Just goes to show how stupid society is nowadys. Voting for who feeds them lies.

America has wanted a new government in Afghanistan since at least 1998, three years before the attacks on 11 September 2001. The official report from a meeting of the U.S. Government's foreign policy committee on 12 February 1998, available on the U.S. Government website, confirms that the need for a West-friendly government was recognised long before the War on Terror that followed September 11th.

Ron Paul Serves Up Red Meat For Social Conservatives: 'Life Does Not Come From The Government'

ABC’s Jason Volack and Michael Falcone report:

AMES, Iowa -- Pivoting away from his economic-focused speeches of the past week, presidential candidate Ron Paul told a crowd in Iowa on Saturday that “life does not come from the government-- it comes from our creator.”

His defense of the unborn during a speech at the Ames Straw Poll drew heavy applause from the audience as he makes a play for social conservatives in this state.

During his remarks, he recalled some graphic stories from his time as an obstetrics-gynecology resident to explain his opposition to abortion rights. Paul said that in the 1960s, physicians were "defying the law in doing abortions," and told a story of seeing doctors deliver a baby via Caesarean section and then "put it in a bucket in the corner of the room and let it die and pretended nobody heard it."

It took Paul several minutes to return to his-bread-and-butter issues like returning America to the gold standard.

“It's still on the books that only gold and silver can be legal tender,” the Texas congressman, who is in the midst of his second presidential bid, said.

During his speech he also spent time defending individual liberties and bashing policies like the Patriot Act, calling it an “attack on our liberties and the Fourth Amendment.”

“Just think of what is happening at our airports,” he said.

Earlier this week -- Paul told ABC News that talking about what he sees as the abuses of the Patriot Act is one of the factors that sets him apart from his GOP opponents. He also told ABC News that nobody is talking about our undeclared and illegal foreign wars.

Paul’s now common catch line -- “it’s time to bring troops home” -- again drew a thunderous applause from the straw poll crowd here, many of whom were wearing bright red shirts with Paul’s name on it.

Aides to Paul, a perennial favorite at straw polls like this, were predicting on Saturday that he could receive as many as 4,000 votes. His campaign staff said they bought 2,750 tickets for supporters. But his son, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., warned supporters that if his father wins today, "some will try to delegitimize" it.

Paul packs 'em in at Ames Straw Poll
mug.hamby By: CNN Political Reporter Peter Hamby

Ames, Iowa (CNN) - Texas Rep. Ron Paul proved that he is a leading contender to win Ames straw poll on Saturday by packing the venue with his rowdy sign-waving supporters.

“We have lost our enthusiasm for freedom!” said Paul, who donned a short-sleeved plaid shirt for the occasion.

The audience boomed with applause when the libertarian-leaning candidate blasted the size of the federal government, touted his opposition to abortion and called on government to withdraw American forces from Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Paul said the country functions better "without the federal government down our backs and in our wallets."

The straw poll outcome hinges on how well each campaign can turn out their supporters to the ballot box.

Judging by the size of Paul’s crowd inside the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, which was nearly twice as big as the one that turned out to watch former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, he appears to be on track for a top finish.

Most observers believe Paul will finish in the top three, and could pull off an upset by winning the whole thing.

After months making speeches about the country’s economic crisis, Ron Paul spent the first few minutes of his address inside the Hilton Coliseum talking about his opposition to abortion.

“You cannot have relative value for life … you cannot play God and make those decisions,” said Paul, an obstetrician who has delivered thousands of babies during his career. “All life is previous.”

The 12-term U.S. congressman went on to say that he opposes the use of any public money to fund abortions, before segueing into a review of his foreign policy views.

“Being pro-life” means that when children come of age “their lives are just as precious and they are never required to fight an undeclared, unwinnable war,” Paul said, eliciting a round of applause supporters.

“The country is tired of the war, and we’re also broke,” said Paul, who later promised to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Texan ended his time at the podium by telling the audience he would turn around the U.S. economy by eliminating the Federal Reserve, going back to the gold standard and reducing government regulations on businesses. Elimination of income and corporate taxes should also be “seriously considered,” he said.

“We got into this trouble by not having respect for the Constitution,” Paul said.  “We can get out of trouble by respecting the rule of law and by sending only people to Washington who know, understand and will obey the Constitution.”
