It was determined since 2004, through testing by various water utilities,
whereby it had been discovered, that anywhere from 300, to 316
contaminants or pollutants, were found to exist in the tap water that
Americans normally drink.

This was reported by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and, based on the
drinking water quality analysis, of almost 20 million records, obtained
from state water officials.

After reading the report on EWG’s website, I then went through the actual list of the
“pollutants/contaminants” by clicking on the tab labeled “Chemical
Contaminants.”

Much to my surprise, I could not find such chemicals as; Acrylamide or
Polyacrylamide. It was neither listed as a pollutant or a contaminant,
in this tap water study…how strange?

The strange thing is: Acrylamide is used to make polyacrylamide materials.
Polyacrylamide is used in the treatment of drinking-water, and waste
water, where it is used to remove particles and other impurities. It is
also used to make glues, paper and cosmetics. Polyacrylamide materials
contain very small amounts of acrylamide.

What is the problem?

Acrylamide is known to cause cancer in animals. Also, certain doses of acrylamide are
toxic to the nervous systems of both animals and, humans.

Further to this; it appeared to have been neglected for mention; that several
states across the contiguous U.S., are artificially fluoridating their
drinking water supplies, with toxic industrial chemical pollutants,
e.g., Fluorosilicic Acid/Hydrofluorosilicic Acid (HFS/HFSA).

We're missing the give and take of normal conversation as well as the nuances, facial expression, tone, body language, etc. People are bound to misunderstand one another on the internet.

Like I said, no data on what's not tested. So these tests probably don't include pharmaceuticals which are found in the tap water in almost every city if not every city. Bovine growth hormone and antibiotics are found in substantial quantity in most organically grown leafy green vegetable and tubers, potato's, yam's, etc. That's from the manure and water used in agriculture. This subject, environmental chemical pollutants is one I study and have particular interest in. I'm also certain that our water contains, depending on where one lives, a certain PPB of radioactive material as well. Pesticides, Fungicides, Herbicides too though I'm not familiar enough to know if these are on the list or not since I don't know the chemical make-up of these things.

My blog is here. The post index is down a bit on the right.

The dehumidified water also contains a substantial number of various bacteria, specifically why the web sites I mentioned don't recommend it be used for drinking water and filters aren't terribly good for removing that. If you boil it to remove bacteria you might as well just boil tap water.

I'll avoid water since my personal opinion is it's fully contaminated no matter the source and especially from the air and juices seem to me to be the safest overall source. Water has no taste anyway and that has more to do with why I stopped drinking it in the first place but it's been several years now. At this point I'm too scared to drink it.

["I don't drink water. I drink an enormous amount of fruit juices"]...If I misinterpreted that statement, coming from you, then that was my fault, and I obviously did not intend to take it out of context.

["As for the 316 contaminants, I'm not certain what that includes and what's being tested for"]...If you visit the EWG website, to which I provided a link, particularly pertaining to the report on tap water in question...then once you get there, you can click on the tab labeled “Chemical Contaminants.”

When you get to that page, you will then have the opportunity to view all of the said contaminants and or pollutants (316) found to exist in the tap water, and from several areas around the United States of America.

["dangers of drinking water from dehumidifier" and there's nothing good written and it isn't even recommended for plants because of the trace heavy metals]...Well; this is precisely why I went through the effort, to recommend passing the water, from the dehumidifier, through a good quality water filter...removal of trace heavy metals is easily dealt with, using the average Brita water filter, let alone a better one.

If you do not use a water filter of any kind, and are consuming water from your tap (city), then you are sure to be consuming these heavy metals which you express concern about. I only put filtered water on my plants.

Added to that; if your water is artificially fluoridated, then the whole issue about heavy metals in your water, will only worsen...fluoride acid attacks the welded joints in the tubing of the pipes, used to provide water to you taps, thus elevating levels of lead, and arsenic, too...you can also find information on these topics, using your Google search.

I don't drink my food groups nor do I juice fruit. From what I've read at various sites I trust on the web we get enough water from a normal diet eating the regular recommended variety and quantities of fruits, vegetables and small amount of lean meats. I don't eat red meats. I drink fruit juice that made without additives, without HFCS, etc. Just regular organic fruit juices from the co-op. There's water in all of them. It's the first ingredient listed on the label.

I'm not so sure you're getting less contaminated water by taking it from indoor or outdoor air. Both have their share of pollutants.

Google "dangers of drinking water from dehumidifier" and there's nothing good written and it isn't even recommended for plants because of the trace heavy metals and in fact if you're going to drink dehumidified water the recommendation is just to boil tap water. I think I'd prefer to drink tap water before dehumidified water.

As for the 316 contaminants, I'm not certain what that includes and what's being tested for. Is that including tests for 100s of pharmaceuticals? Dehumidified water has everything airborne. In the home that includes radon and also the 95% of dust in any home that's composed of dead skin as well as many other indoor pollutants from paint, furniture and carpet. From outdoor air you might have 1000s of chemicals. Not something that sounds safe to me. You can Google anything with the word danger after it and find a wealth of information.

Well, perhaps it's not the ultimate, or best source of pure water, one can find...water from de-humidification.

Lets look at it from this perspective however; there is up to 316 contaminants or pollutants in the "tap water," this according to the EWG report. Now, suffice it to say you won't have this, if you are pulling the water out of the atmosphere, from within your own home, especially, and for free too...except for the cost of the dehumidifier and the electricity to run it. And, in the course of just one day, you'd probably end up with more water than you can use, depending on where on the continent you live.

I tend to agree with this de-humidification concept, in this sense; you'd end up with a less contaminated source of water to start with. And, if you then run the de-humidified results (water), through a good water filter, like the "Berkey Light," which I believe to be a good product...there are other comparable ones out there too...then you'd end up with some pretty good drinking water at the end.

I cannot agree with the juice for water concept, for a very simple reasons; in particular, is the drawbacks and or adverse effects to your health...eventually.

If you juice your fruits, for the sake of juice to drink, you are in fact creating an unnatural process, as opposed to eating the fruits. For example; how many apples do you think you can eat, that would be needed to make 32 ounces (1 quart) of juice...chances are, you couldn't eat the equivalent amount of apples, over the same space of time.

Another example, to better state the health implications, would be: Apple Sauce.
A jar of apple sauce, not the very big ones...medium size...would contain many apples in order to fill the jar 5-8 ounces for instances. So, in other words; there is a concentration of apples within the jar of sauce.

Further to that, drinking the fruit or eating the sauce, replaces the natural process of digestion, that is; the process of chewing, or mastication of your food...breaking it down via the natural process, with the saliva to break down the sugars and acids etc. And, if this process is bypassed through drinking your food, or eating apple sauce, then you will end up with a shorter or quicker digestion process. Ultimately, the sugars and or carbohydrates will then be more easily absorbed from the intestines into your bloodstream, thus subjecting your pancreas to a jolt...causing it to produce extra, or work harder in the production of needed insulin, in response to the detected sudden increase in blood sugars.

So therein, lies the disadvantage of drinking your food groups.

Wait, filtering water obtained from the air? As polluted as the air is?

I don't drink water. I drink an enormous amount of fruit juices which provide the body with all the water it needs. If you aren't familiar with the severely polluted water, and our bottled water is even more polluted then tap water, you haven't been paying attention.

Humans need clean water. I get more then enough from juices whose water content is filtered to higher standards then any other water available to us in the marketplace.
