Governor Cuomo is Opening up New York to Fracking - 7/14/2011

Governor Cuomo is caving to the oil and gas industry. He's planning on opening up most of New York to hydraulic fracturing, setting a terrible precedent that will put millions of people's drinking water at risk, and could be followed by other states.

I'm working on the ground to put pressure on Governor Cuomo to do the right thing, but we need your help. Can you help support a ban on fracking in New York by chipping in to air this ad?

Incredibly, Governor Cuomo just announced his intent to open up New York to fracking, despite mounting evidence that fracking threatens our air and water and is poisoning our communities. Unfortunately New York's decision to allow fracking could set a terrible precedent for other states. We've created a new video that highlights insider comments obtained by The New York Times, which show why fracking is also a risky economic scheme and that "these corporate giants are having an Enron moment..."

The evidence is clear that fracking is a bad idea, even among industry insiders. Now, we need New Yorkers to see this ad, learn the truth and demand that Governor Cuomo ban fracking — and we need your help to make it happen.

Each ad costs about $250 to air one time. Can you chip in and help sponsor an ad today?

The oil and gas industry is lying about fracking but they're using their millions of dollars to try to skew the public debate. We know the truth about fracking and the impact it can have on communities all over the country but we need to make sure this message is far reaching so we can put pressure on Cuomo to do the right thing. We have a plan to hit major media outlets in the state, but we can't do it without your help. Each ad costs about $250 to air. Help us expose the industry's lies by chipping in to help air this ad.

We don't take contributions from corporations or the government so your support is necessary in order for us to keep defending our essential resources. Contribute here:

Fracking is an insult to the planet. It induces earthquakes too. I would be very nervous about living in NY. Of course, the underground aquifers are all being put to risk for short term profits.
It is this short sighted approach by corporations that is destroying all life. Because of idiot politicians these parasitic organizations get their way. Politicians are mostly leeches themselves,
living off the work and lives of other people. Fracking shows how easily insane behavior is legalized/normalized in the USA. We should instead be using solar and wind and other clean
sustainable methods to obtain energy but we’re drilling and fracking instead. What about global warming? It seems that issue is being conveniently swept under the rug while Big Oil
CEOs rake it in. More $20 million bonuses for the good job of destroying people’s water. You know that Big Oil puts all their hazardous waste into these fracking operations. They then tell the EPA, supposedly, exactly what they poured in. Yeah, sure.
