A scam stealing identities on gas pumps in Ohio WTRF - Channel 7 - Wheeling, W Virginia -- Several gas stations across the Buckeye State are seeing skimmers placed on pumps. These skimmers are then stealing personal information from transactions made at the pump. According to Warren County Inspector Rob McGee gas pumps are being opened with a key purchased online. The skimmer is then connected to the pump, and is targeting debit pin numbers. So far, skimmers have been found in 7 Ohio Counties. The Loading Zone in Bridgeport says they know about the scam and are looking out for suspicious activity. But, new software at their pumps allows for some extra protection against fraud. "We keep our pumps shut off at night for reasons such as that.
