Oy Vey: Zimbabwe girls resort to cow dung for sanitary pads

Zimbabwe girls resort to cow dung for sanitary pads

Girls in rural Zimbabwe are forced to use cow dung for sanitary wear as inflation hits feminine hygiene products.

Constance Dimingo, 19, wriggles in her wheelchair as she tries to remember the last time, she used a sanitary pad. “I last wore a pad before my mother died last year,” she laments.

A congenital physical disability compounded by poverty has made a natural monthly cycle a period of shame.

“Now, I have to use anything I can find, cow dung, leaves, newspapers and clothes, to stop the blood from leaking. I wish my mother was still alive to buy me pads and medication for my menstrual pain,” she concludes.

Never content, first negroans complained about picking toooooo much cotton now they complain of no cotton to pick, chances are these are the offspring if the starving niglets I collected money for when I was just a child ie this is the result of feeding wild animals instead of allowing nature to take it's harsh but NATURAL path of supply and demand to determine the right population of a given species. Aside from this pads are a modern invention of CIVILIZED societities as primitives have always used grass or some other dried vegetation.

Sanitary napkins didn't always exist and through the centuries many things were used (moss, grass and sand all wrapped in cloth and old rags).  I'm afraid Africans aren't the only ones that will need to improvise in the coming years.

Cow dung is one of the last things I would use, if I were a woman. Incredible.
