Snopes Escalates War Against Known Satire Site ‘Babylon Bee’

"OK, this just makes no sense at all. Left-wing, so-called “fact-check” site Snopes is now upping its attacks against the humorous conservative satire site Babylon Bee in an effort to destroy the site that is supposed to be making fun of “facts” and the news in the fist place.

Snopes has been attacking conservative satire site Babylon Bee for some time already, but now, Snopes has broadened its attack against Babylon Bee to an attack on all conservatives who Snopes says are too stupid to understand that Babylon Bee is a satire site.

That’s right, conservative, left-wing Snopes is justifying its attempt to destroy a joke-telling website because Snopes contends that conservatives are too stupid to “get” the jokes.

The Daily Wire has the story:

Weeks after The Babylon Bee obtained legal representation against the fact-checking site for unfairly rating their openly satirical articles and for suggesting that the outlet deliberately misleads their readers, Snopes released a report on Friday justifying its attack on the Bee by suggesting that Republicans are too stupid to know the difference between fake news and satire.

“Our team of communication researchers has spent years studying misinformation, satire and social media,” the report begins. “Over the last several months, we’ve surveyed Americans’ beliefs about dozens of high-profile political issues. We identified news stories – both true and false – that were being shared widely on social media. We discovered that many of the false stories weren’t the kind that were trying to intentionally deceive their readers; they actually came from satirical sites, and many people seemed to believe them.”

“The truth is, understanding online political satire isn’t easy,” it continues. “Many satirical websites mimic the tone and appearance of news sites. You have to be familiar with the political issue being satirized. You have to understand what normal political rhetoric looks like, and you have to recognize exaggeration. Otherwise, it’s pretty easy to mistake a satirical message for a literal one.”

Sharing does not mean “believing,” Snopes. The Bee’s stuff is shared because it makes people laugh.

The problem with this whole line of attack is that Snopes did not slam the left-leaning satire site “The Onion” in the same way despite that its “fact-checking system” found that liberals believed Onion stories at very close to the same rate that conservatives believe Babylon Bee articles.

In other words, Snopes arbitrarily decided that left-wing satire is OK if it misleads people, but Conservative satire is always evil.

Why, gosh, there’s no bias there, huh?

Snopes’ bias was so bad that even Facebook had to cut ties with them as a “fact-checker.” And it’s hard to even find a company with a harder left-wing agenda than Facebook!"

Snopes is the only one who didn't see the 'Babylon Bee' as satire and made fools of themselves by "fact checking" their stories.
