"This is a denial-of-service [DoS] attack," said Jinyoung Lee Englund, a spokeswoman for the Bitcoin Foundation, a trade organisation for exchanges. "Whoever is doing this is not stealing coins, but is succeeding in preventing some transactions from confirming. It's important to note that DoS attacks do not affect people's bitcoin wallets or funds."

Sounds like sabotage = the bankers

BTW anyone who calls bitcoin a ponzi scheme doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground and deserves to be slapped silly to knock the bullshit from between their ears. It's open source there is no "Ponzi"

Mike Adams seems to LOVE legacy banking like JPM, HSBC, Wells Fargo etc. and equates exchanges with bitcoin itself which shows his incompetence. He also seems to think he was the only one who saw Gox was in deep trouble and untrustworthy... NO we all knew it but like so many could not get out in time. There are a LOT of good exchanges out there and the Bitcoin protocol is stronger than ever and has NEVER been compromised only bitcoin businesses have. It's like saying if your local bank got robbed "US dollar hacked!" or if that same local bank went under saying "US dollar DEAD!" BTC-E is alive and well so is Bitstamp, CampBX, Coinbase etc etc.

Mike Adams "bitcoin backed by nothing" and the US Dollar is backed by what? Bitcoin is backed by cryptographic proof of work and is counterfeit proof.

Mike Adams needs to shut the hell up until he gets this shit, I lost a SMALL amount with MtGox only idiots left everything in a wallet of which they don't control the private keys.

To Mark Dice If the Illuminati created Bitcoin remind me to send them a thank you card!!

I'm so glad I've ignored these conspiracy nuts as I've made more money with bitcoin in the last 6 months than I have in my entire life combined. These guys are doing the movement a great disservice by telling people to TRUST the current banking system with your money. Just wait till the bail ins come to the USA. When the SHTF I will cash out into gold silver and land. The only people bitcoin screws over are the ones who don't know what their doing with it or aren't holding it.

If anyone was on the fence about getting into bitcoin I would say now is as good a time as ever to pick up a few bitcoins. I see btc going to new highs this summer $1500! Currently $550, This is cheap!

Also to my previous comment about blockchain.info take advantage of their free two factor authorization security. Can be done with google auth or by sms on your cell phone.

Best most secure online wallet https://blockchain.info/wallet/new

FREE!

Make sure to save a new backup to your PC each time you create a new address. I would also recommend keeping a backup on a thumb drive and a cloud service like dropbox.com Use TrueCrypt to add an additional layer to your wallet backup. Also you can print out the private keys and store them in your safe but remember anyone who has access to that paper has access to all your coins!
