A Song of Freedom
As I sit here in silent reflection
The voice of a thousand drums
Reverberate deep within,
Dancing, I spin to a song of freedom
Freedom within, freedom without
To break the shackles that bind me
That holds me to another tune
One of fear that grips the wounded child
Crying helplessly, alone
Bruised but not broken
Awakening to the dawn rising
The sun covers the darkness
But for a moment there is peace
These moments, bittersweet
More sweet than bitter, I revel
I greet the day with a kiss
Upon my lips a song of freedom
Freedom within, freedom without
Despite the dark, I am alive
My candle still flickers and glows
