EPA goes paramilitary as it conducts armed raids with ‘POLICE’ jackets, checking for water quality

‘In what is another example of gross regulatory abuse, a squad of Alaska enviro-agents wearing POLICE-emblazoned body armor and dressed in paramilitary garb recently “raided” a small community for the purpose of – wait for it – checking the quality of water.

According to the Alaska Dispatch newspaper, which reported on the incident Sept. 3, “agents with the Alaska Environmental Crimes Task Force surged out of the wilderness around the remote community of Chicken wearing body armor” and jackets, leaving residents stunned, confused and most likely a little ticked off.’

If that was not the evidence, that some needed, to prove the emergence of a POLICE STATE; then what's it going to take?

What's next- the AIR Quality Police?

"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power." - From George Orwell's 1984

I'm concerned about our creeping police state, but gold dredging requires tailings ponds to avoid fish kills, government inspectors want to be armed in the backwoods, but need to announce themselves first.

http://www.alaskadispatch.com/article/20130903/gold-miners-near-chi...

You can find my previous comment in the thread, and while I am against the creeping police state, we the people own much of the Western states, and when folks go dredging for gold, they can harm our streams and our Salmon, so it is appropriate that our public employees inspect the conditions of the tailings ponds.  If it was my job to inspect, I would want a police vest and a gun, otherwise the miners' might think I was a robber after their gold.  It is cheaper for the miner to pollute the river than make a good tailings pond, so we need public employees to inspect, except that they need to loudly announce their visit to the miners' claim on our public land.

I have no problem with REASON.  I'm not a fanatic [although I might tend to write like one].

The PROBLEM we have is this: Although what you have said is not only well-stated, but very much understood, as well as very reasonable and understadable, our "government" has created a state of fear.  And it is because, over the last couple of decades, the APPEARANCE (if nothing else) of the establishment of a police state is very, very strong.

There are CHILDREN that are being [WHILE IN SCHOOL!!] slammed to the floor, ARRESTED, and charles with bring a toy cap gun to school, aiming it at a fellow student [in MUTUAL FUN], and being charged with FELONIES.  It's absolutely insane.

There are legitimate activists, such as Chicago activists a few years ago, that were communicating their beef with the government, in emails and website posts, etc., over the Internet.  SWAT TEAMS were sent to their apartments, and their equipment was confiscated; the children were scared to death, due to the behavior of these teams.  It's all OVER-KILL, big time.

In Detroit (and in New York City), years back, OLD WOMEN were SHOT TO DEATH, by Swat teams that were called to her building by some citizens that claimed there were "drug lords" in the building.  And the Swat team busts down this OLD WOMAN'S door, and gunned her down--with barely an apology, afterwards.

The very uniforms of police officers have changed drastically, and they all resemble the unforms of NAZIS--certain of the uniforms, helmets and all.  The very ATTITUDE of these police officers--system-wide, all over the country, is THE SAME: unberable.

On the highways, state police officers are LITERALLY robbing people, claiming, "Well, this amount of money MUST be drug money."  It's just criminal, that's all.

I can go on and on and on.  So, what you see happening is NOT isolated incidents of "mis-behavior."  What you SEE is a PATTERN, and it's growing, and it's everywhere, and it APPEARS to be very well orchestrated.

So, while some might say, "Officers are merely protecting themselves and trying to carry out their duty," well, that might be right.  But who's TRAINING them?  Why are officers now equipped with military-grade weapons.  That was NOT the case in the past.

Had these patterns not been occuring, all over the U.S., for many years now, then your perspective of the particular situation under discussion could be accepted 100%  But, I can't.  I can't because this thing is getting RIDICULOUS.

I jog near Lake Michigan, occasionally.  Last year, I parked my car, and went jogging. When I finished, an hour and 40 minutes later, I got in my car to go home.  It was daylight, not night.  I started driving.  I saw the police car, behind me, flashing, so I pulled over.

I looked in my left rear-view mirror, after the cop finally got out of his car, and THIS dude was approaching my car WITH HIS HAND FIRMLY ON HIS GUN.  I mean, WHAT DA F_CK!!??

I'm very good at handling cops, as well as [on the opposite end], hardcore street folks [thugs, pimps, "hos" (prostitutes), etc].  So, I did my, "Yes, officer," polite thing, right?  The guy was INSANE!!  He was acting like his LIFE was in jeopardy, when HE is the one that had the gun!

Why did he pull me over?  Because of some minor traffic thing [I can't even remember it, it was so little], and he gave me a ticket.

NEVER, in my 63 years on this earth, had I encountered any cop acting like that--even in the 1960s, when folks were out here burning shi_t down.

This is something NEW.  This is something unprecendented, at least in MY lifetime.  It has been created gradually, over a period of time.  It seems as if that's been done purposely, so as to not startle folks.  But it is startling nonetheless.

Anyway, again: I have no problem with your perspective, and you're probably right--for THAT particular issue.  Yet, I'm not so sure.  The police are either extremely paranoid [and for NOTHING], or they're being TRAINED, systematically, for their role as enforcers in the new police state.  I tend to believe the latter.

The stupid woman in charge of the EPA sat back and allowed BP to dump millions of gallons of internationally banned Corexit into the gulf to disperse the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster. Obummer pardoned BP for this act of well sabotage, judged as an intentional act of sabotage by the U.S. senate. After refusing Europe's entire fleet of oil skimmer boats to assist in the clean up, the EPA nutjob sat on her big fat one and allowed the GoM to be seriously damaged by Blackstone and BP's extensive Corexit spraying. Now this same piece of trash wants to point guns in peoples' faces to prove her worth. This is not an intelligent person. This person needs psychiatric help. This person needs a jail cell and 10 years at hard labor.
