I recommend police carry civilian clothing in their radio cars.  We are so close to a revolution against the government that at any moment all uniforms can become legitimate targets to the armed American citizens, who outnumber police 3,000 to one.  Your wife's old wig and a T-shirt with a cannibals plant on the back might be helpful, as well.  Good luck;  come the revolution, you are going to need it.
