Doris "Granny D" Haddock ~ R.I.P. ~ Did You Know Her?
Doris Haddock, or Granny D to her friends passed away just a few days ago at the age of 100. She walked across America at an age most of us won't ever reach. She was just shy of her 90th birthday when she chose to walk 3,200 miles across the country. She fasted until someone provided food and she stayed awake until someone provided shelter. She just walked.
Doris Haddock was born of January 24th, 1910 and she passed away on March 8th, 2010. She was an American politician, Senate candidate and liberal political activist who lived in between Dublin and Peterborough, New Hampshire, a place made famous by Thornton Wilder in Our Town.
On Bush: "Spontaneous generation proves thugs spring naturally from mud"
On Terrorism: "Enemies of America will spontaneously generate from any countries we attack needlessly"
On America: "It is no longer the right versus the left. Everything has been tossed up into the air and has come down differently. It is now those who believe in the freedom of free people versus the Autocrats. It is the human scale of life versus the super machinery of a corporacized state that feeds on fear and war."
On My Generation: "We have a generation amongst us that when you were younger tried to find their way back to the Garden. Back to a way of sustainable living that respected other people and respected the earth. It is time they tried again and we need to go with them."
On The Future: "The new divide between politics in America and the world is between those who will decide to live beautifully with each other and with the world and those who will not. We vote in that election 100 times per day."
She was smarter then us all.

What a blessed lady, it's not hard to fall in love with such a beautiful spirit as she. She was pretty damn funny too, what a trip! Thanks for adding Jeff, I had no idea who she was until you added! RIP~her spirit shall forever live on!

Really sorry to here of her passing, there aren't many out there like good old granny D. She was pure lefty when I first encountered her writtings but I'm unsurprised that she finally recognized the false dichotomy. She was one sharp cookie.
