It’s no bird flu, it's art! Colorful pigeons are roaming the skies over Copenhagen to the surprise of the locals and tourists as part of an art project.
Pigeons painted in crimson, blue and yellow appeared a part of a large scale art project titled ‘Life Clock’, which will run in the city for six weeks.
Two artists Julius Von Bismarck and Julian Charrière captured pigeons, painted them and them set them free. The paint used by the artists is said to be harmless to the birds, as they only used food dye. After about six weeks the paint will wear off.

“This is the idea of a moving display,” one of the organizers Soren Petersen told Danish BT . “While the exhibition will be on, colored pigeons will roam Copenhagen and its suburbs.”
Christian Bretton-Meyer, another organizer explained that the unusual birds are aimed to brighten the surroundings. “This is a way to integrate art into our daily life,” he says.
A Danish Ornithologists Society representative does not agree that the paint is completely harmless, as normal pigeons avoid mating with their colored neighbors.
