Be Aware on the Roads: Nationwide Checkpoints and Speed Traps Planned For Week of Thanksgiving

It doesn’t matter where you live, chances are that if you travel anytime in the next week you will probably be seeing cops pulling people over everywhere.

News reports for almost every town in the country are warning of DUI checkpoints, speed traps and an increase in police activity for the whole week surrounding the thanksgiving holiday.

Most police departments depend on holidays to generate extra revenue and there will be overtime crews out there with the specific intention of pulling over average, nonviolent people to give them tickets.

They will be looking for people going over the speed limit, not wearing their seat belts, they will be checking tail lights and registration and they will even be setting up checkpoints in random spots all throughout the country.

May I see your papers? These papers are not in order. Please pull your car around over here, and we will run a facial recognition scan to see what your true identity is. Oh, Obama. Well, fine then. You can go Comrade! See you when the joyous people's rebellion meets and the proletariat unites the peaceful peasants of the Motherland.

If we can not be civil to each other then I will remove this post! I will not tolerate any disrespect to any of our family on this site.

We can come together over Twinkies but not about important issues is ridicules.

I do not mean any disrespect to anyone or anybody but come on and grow up.

We should be able to agree on important issues, if we can not we have already lost the battle!!

Please consider your words and that they can never be taken back, especially now in the digital age. Do not become a fool because of a hot temper!

WTF-- I wasn't done.

I looked up my county on manta.com. They're listed as a for profit corporation. They sell "products and services". Doesn't sound like "government" to me.

Make sure you look up all the things that DHS says you can't have. You don't want to have any of that stuff in your car now do you?

Most police departments depend on holidays to generate extra revenue.

Can't get more "in your face" than that. Huh, extra revenue. Almost sounds like a corporation. I looked up my count

Yup, corporate policy enforcers out enmasse. Gotta get everybody for breaking a statute. I'm not to thrilled about drunk drivers, but if you don't commit a crime, ie, harm or hurt someone, or trample on their rights, they should not be able to pull you over and interrogate you. This is just a way to get us used to having it done more and more. Pretty soon, we'll be wondering why they're not there.

This is going to make it horrible for those of us who are not US citizens, but are members of the Republic. No travelling for us this Thanksgiving due to completely ignorant policy enforcers. Hate to get locked up and miss it.

Just use common sense and be careful. I have no tolerance for drunk drivers but that shouldn't be an excuse for checkpoints. And most of all, enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday!
