Black Caucus chairman: If Obama wasn't president, we'd be 'marching on White House'

BlCleaver: If Obama wasn't president, we would be ‘marching on the White House’
By Alicia M. Cohn - 09/18/11 03:48 PM ET

Unhappy members of the Congressional Black Caucus “probably would be marching on the White House” if Obama were not president, according to CBC Chairman Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.).

"If [former President] Bill Clinton had been in the White House and had failed to address this problem, we probably would be marching on the White House," Cleaver told “The Miami Herald” in comments published Sunday. "There is a less-volatile reaction in the CBC because nobody wants to do anything that would empower the people who hate the president."

CBC members have expressed concern in recent months as the unemployment rate has continued to rise amongst African-Americans, pushing for Obama to do more to address the needs of vulnerable communities.

@ Shakta....

...I said Dr. King was part of the problem, fact is the US always finds someone to use to obtain their objectives...Dr King just happened to be the right person at the right time.  Why would black America agree to give up their natural right to provide for self and kind?  Why would anyone agree to do this in exchange for welfare and the ability to vote?  His "dream" has amounted to nothing more than a nightmare.  Their is no community in this country without an economy...except the black community.

Why?  How?  Do you think this happened by accident or design?   Please don't speak on things if you don't know the facts.  Though it may not be a public fact, it is a fact...just open your mind....opinions don't matter.

Whatever person said that Dr.King was part of the problem...is part of the problem.

People that make excuses for not doing what they should are part of the problem. People know there is a wrong that needs to be righted here. So you make excuses. That's fine. But my opinion is...and will always be...fight for what you believe in. Some may think you are wrong. Some may not.

But fight for what you believe in. Don't let your race stop you, don't let politics cower you, don't let your personal associations hold you back, don't let philosophical arguments blind you.

Otherwise all you are is an armchair warrior. Your words mean absolutely nothing. The internet is filled with useless words. Your deeds...matter.

DO something. If the Black Caucus wants to act-then act. With or without their whining dissenters.

Pretty much. When it really came right down to it, I really couldn't care that Clinton got some. The fact that he LIED about it...that's what I took issue with...

Indeed you would be...by the very same people that would scream for Bush's head.  It's so sad to see how stupid some people can be just because the president is black...I'm a native American...I don't care who's in office...just do the right thing...or else.

I happen to be white. If I even consider hinting at violence, regardless of NObamas entire unlawful presidency, I am automatically branded a racist.

@ the Black Caucus: You've thrown the gauntlet, now "put up or shut up". Or is your wee-wee tishort?

If the shoe fits.....

Hmmm...Dr King was part of the problem.  Do a little research...then think about a few things.

What a crybaby lol. Dr.King knew he would have to take a bullet for his views, and he did it. He died for his cause.

Boo hoo the Black Caucus cannot stand up for themselves because other Black people are "judging" them.

Pity.

@ Nota...

...the caucus is awake...the community is sleeping....you can't say anything about Obama without someone in the community jumping down your neck...

Comment by Nota Khan on September 20, 2011 at 8:44am

@Architect

Hardly 'sleeping'...isn't he basically saying "Yes we are being screwed -- without any grease -- but as long as it's a black man is doing it, we'll grin and bare it!"?

CBC? I have been saying this for 2 1/2 years....the black community is sleeping while Obama screws them...without any grease!
