Epitaph at 5:00 AM

Carrying around my regrets like a spear in my chest

Talking to people who couldn’t care less

No mistress to which I can confess

My life under the condition of redress,

All those platitudes I’m not too vain to express

How long can it go on seems to be endless

We live in a world with a lying media and press

Deep in your eyes I can feel the distress,

The stars aren’t quite out yet here before dawn

Not yet time for the dew on the lawn

All self-control of my thoughts is gone

What I would give for an angel who is blonde,

Allowing her fair hair to brush my face

My fingertips caressing her lace

If only I hadn’t fallen from grace

Lost in the blur of this vermin race,

Oh my dear angel if you would come to me

Even in dreams where my soul is set free

Lord, will I have ever earned my decree?

It’s all tragic but admittedly funny,

Again, again, and again a definition of my insanity

Like the sweet sap dripping from a maple tree

The cool early morning air calls to me

Wish I could heal the blind so they could see.
