Hundreds of refugees make camps in French public park after being evicted from local house
"Roughly five hundred refugees are now living in tents in a public park in Nantes, France, after being evicted from an abandoned house in the area.
French locals have been outspoken of their presence, with some saying their presence “is negative for Nantes, just like for every city they have settled”.
Doctors have also voiced concern about medical issues that may arise from such a large group of people in a concentrated area, warning of epidemics.
The refugees, mostly from Sudan and Eritrea, have settled in camps after being evicted from a nearby abandoned building by French police.
Hygiene has become a key issue, with only one toilet and a single water tank available for roughly 500 people. One local woman called the situation “a very bad sign for locals and tourists”."
