Just Another Rainy Day
What’s the reason for this life?
I’ve heard so many times on the edge of a knife
Some can never even keep a housewife
And would that even end their strife?
What can I say? Just another rainy day
Headed down this lonely highway
Trying to hide my dismay
Couldn’t get her to stay anyway,
Treasure on a lost plateau
As desolate as foothills in the snow
Too cold for anything to grow
Too afraid to let my emotions show,
What can I say? Just another rainy day
Got my old photos hidden away
Sometimes I can’t even pray
The forgotten bed where we used to lay,
I hear the sound of hope fading away
Yet, here is that abandoned palace where I stay
Wondering where the persecuted will decay
Memories of a misty May,
You know the time of year isn’t right
Something in the air like fright
The generation of the wicked night
Has become everyone’s plight,
What can I say? Just another rainy day
A little Asian girl named Mei
Another one always seems to go astray
Just another balmy day across the bay,
Few self-deluded fools never see
Through the enigma that keeps us from being free
There’s another cork in a bottle floating past me
Useless, like trying to get two enemies to agree,
If I could untangle this confusing day
And not give a damn about what they say
If only the imminent destruction, we could delay
What can I say? Just another rainy day.

well CS what a thing to to say and Doc V. you're kind with you words. I would have expected him to cop a bit of flack. Great poets don't tend to focus their writings on superficial encounters from what I have noticed. That's why they are so great and in clown world poets sit very close to top of the pyramid because they have that unique ability to bring joy and beauty to suffering like few others ever could ever imagine. It would be difficult to describe this phenomenon to others short of attempting to write a poem oneself as regular describing words are ineffective in conveying the concept. I think it's because both joy and beauty are emotions and need to be 'felt' and that 'feel' is spontaneous and silent. ( easy if poems about tweedy birds at the beach on a summers day - but that's not suffering so would not gain any traction in CW) Even in the real world only the best poets have been able to master this. Central Scrutinizer Dude, you have a way of boiling it all down. I tried a third marriage with one who just couldn't let the pain of the past go so she punished all those closest to her while trusting those she didn't even know. I've read up on this seeming syndrome and it seems a lot of western guys have crashed and burned the same way. Chinese culture both Commie mainland and free Taiwan still have similarities. Lord, make my whip of licorice it'll hurt less.
