I have to add James, I have a hard time with this and it is not for a selfish reason. It is because I have a slow running computer (internet) and I sometimes can not get to the story before I have to reload my page. It is taking such a long time to get it pulled up, if I were a new person I would probably not try as hard and therefore not respond. Then ultimately go to another site out of frustration. Just saying from a slow internet provider persons point of view.

If maybe it could be on the side of the page it may not take so long to scroll to the story the person was initially going to look at.

It is a good idea but needs to be modified in some way or shortened. Maybe on the main page only with the top line reading something to the effect, (These are things of interest, have look before scrolling down to main forum, thank you.)

Just a suggestion.

I think you've got the right idea. May have been a bit overdone to be honest. My suggestion: do what you've done, just make it far more condensed. Give it one heading and call it "BEST OF 12160 8-13-2013" and feature 10-15 top stories that MEMBERS have posted.

Shows that:

A) you update the website daily

B) you value member participation

C) you care about members making an effort here. Views will increase substantially giving people a sense of accomplishment because the stories important to them are being seen. Thus, they are making a difference and will value their time on 12160 that much more.

Ok I LMAO with resistance is futile picture.

But I have to say I was watching the Main Room last night and the people were complaining, I told them the format changed from time to time to be patient.

I agree with those who have suggested that the content on the top of the page be abbreviated. There could be Headings like "Top Videos & Discussions" (or Featured Videos & Discussions), "Top Photos" (or Featured Photos), etc. and one section titled "Latest Content" to enlist all the posts (discussions, blogs, videos and photos) posted in the last 2 to 6 hours (2-6 hours is just a hypothetical time-frame, in reality it could be whatever you deem fit). The titles can be hyperlinked to respective content pages.

At present, it requires one to scroll far too much to reach the main site sections. Hence, instead of enlisting each post title under the main heading, putting only the main headings hyperlinked to respective content will save one from going on scrolling to reach the main page and, I think, it will also make the website layout more systematic and appealing in appearance.
