Salvation in Disguise
Living in a world where giving up is made easy
On the battlefield you may get a little queasy
Wish I could live along the shore where it’s nice and breezy
You're blinded when you think you can see,
I was one of you once earlier in time
Before all those betrayals as bitter as lime
She’s a harlot but in her own mind she’s so sublime
Not worrying about who you step on in your upward climb,
Deep reflections in an isolated pond
The clock moves forward but the memories linger on
Especially when awakened by the ghosts at dawn
Forgive me if I seem a bit withdrawn,
Like the face of sedimentary rock I’m eroded
Although somewhere a terrorist bomb just exploded
Living in shark infested waters outmoded
In order to get through the day some people get loaded,
So many things I said were misconstrued
But upon that brass ring my eyes remained glued
Funny how the fools think they’re so shrewd
A world of mass insanity I must conclude,
I was destined to explore mysterious lands
But as fate would have it I had blood on my hands
Just a figure of speech for curious fans
A member of a one hit wonder band,
Orbiting eyes constantly scouring the skies
She may look like a princess but she’s gathering flies
Could it be that my salvation is in disguise?
Seems I’m too blown away to recognize.
