The science fiction trilogy; Three Body Problem" has a concept of "Dark Forest", the Universe being the forest and civilizations hiding from each others. The moment a civilized planetary system exposes its existence it becomes a target and its days are numbered. Even if it's fiction it can a valid view.
Less Prone Stanton Friedman once made a critical analogy going back to WWII when the Germans flew directly over radar masts on the Cliffs of Dover not realizing what they were because they were using radio and audio scans to assess British capability but were basically obsolescent without knowing just as we are now. Question? How does a scientist communicate with an ant? Maybe we are the ant.
The closest planet to us is Proxima Centauri 4.246 light years from the earth, that is about 4 x 10^13 Kilometers.
The radio wave strength is reduced by distance following an inverse square law. If we were to measure the radio wave strenght from one kilometer from the source, how strong would the signal be at the distance of the closest star compared to that? Divide that with the square of the distance or multiply by 6.25 x 10^-30. It is awfully little. Let's take a power of one modern nuclear power plant of 1000 Megawatts and use it all for radio transmission and we woud get it reduced to 6.25 x 10^-21, or 0,00000000000000000000625 Watts at the proxima centauri. And that is the signal strenght when sent from or to the closest star. No wonder the radio telescopes haven't detected anything solid.
Radio Wave Power And How It Gets Reduced By Distance
To put all in perspective, the milky way galaxy's brightest part that houses the stars has a diameter of 120 thousand light years and our solar system is located at 27 thousand light years from the galaxy center taking 240 million year to complete its orbit.
Less Prone According to the Drake Equation the first astronomaical estimate for extraterrestrial life in history he theorized that if 1/10,000th of a percent of known celestial bodies contained a civilizations there would still be millions of worlds containing life, yet our spwecialized planet detecting satellites and our radio telescopes have not detected anything solid. John Keel theorized that the appearance of so-called aliens could be a form of entity that has been here all the time such as fallen angels, demons, or elementals who change their disguise to be more rlevant to the times.
The existence of aliens, unless experienced personally, is a matter of belief. However, considering the the size of the universe with just the milky way galaxy alone having around two hundred billion stars it is hard to imagine that during the fourteen billion years of the existence of the universe no life would have developed anyywhere else than here on planet earth. The word aliens only makes sense if they appear in another planet than the one they originated. They are not aliens on their own planet.
Aliens do not exist
