Hello friends,
It may have been luck or by the grace of God that I am here to write you all today. I have been in the hospital the last couple days, being treated for burns and smoke inhalation due to my house being on fire. I returned from an hour long walk with my dog, only to discover smoke coming from my house. I called 911 from a neighbors and then went in to the house filled with intense flames several times and rescued 3 of my 5 cats. When the fire dept showed up I was forcibly barred from re-entering the house. It was at this time, the shock subsided enough for me to realize that my clothes melted to my skin, my beard was charred and that I inhaled a lot of smoke. I spent the next days more worried about the two remaining cats as I was being treated. It was when I was later discharged that I found the other two cats and can only thank God that only possessions were lost.
It is only now that I realized that I stared death in the eye, and that looking back, probably shouldn’t have went in to a burning fire so many times.
My house is structurally sound yet, the electric and other utilities were cut, and will not be restored till I prove the house stable enough. It isn’t livable and I am staying with a neighbor until I can get the funds to move in somewhere else. I lost everything, clothes, car keys, ID, bank cards, furniture of thousands of dollars merchandise that I sell to make a living and many treasured family heirlooms and pics. Added to list is all the shtf stuff I been saving like canned food and other prepper stuff.
So needless to say, my ability to be on the site is going to be quite limited. And I frankly have no idea when I will ever be able to be on again regularly.
I do hate to ask, but if you are in a position to donate items , gift cards or merchandise to help me get back on my feet again, I would be ever so grateful. My temp address is c/o JR - 824 Oak, Columbus, Ohio, 43205. If you like to send some funds through paypal, please use admotion@yahoo.com, and note that its for me and not for the 12160 site operations.
I do feel truly blessed that my beloved pets survived and that I am in overall good health as a result of this fire.
I would like Tara to take over as chief admin of the site in my absence.
I will miss you all till I can return. James

Hello fellow members of 12160. I just got off the phone with James and am happy to inform you all that he's in good spirits and is doing well. He sustained second degree burns and smoke inhalation due to the fire but is healing up slowly but surely and is taking it one day at a time. He may have to have surgery to repair damaged skin due to the burns and will know for sure on the 22nd. All in all he is doing great considering what he has been through.
The cats are doing alright considering the trauma they went through but as cats go, they are adaptable critters and will be happy and content as long as James is their buddy.
His house is still in tact, it however was gutted and will take some time to clean up and be ready to live in again. Although he has lost all material items/possessions, by the outpouring of help that he's got from members here, friends and the community in which he lives, he's getting back on his feet one step at a time. Combine that with a fighter spirit within, he'll be back in the saddle soon enough. As the old saying goes, "time heals all wounds."
For anyone that is sending clothes, shoes to James......his pant size is 32" 33", his shirt size is large and shoe size is 10 1/2. I'm sure he'll certainly be in need of clothing items if you have them to spare.
James would like to thank you all from the bottom of his heart and he greatly appreciates all the love and support you've been giving to him. Thank you so much 12160, you all rock!
James,
I am saddened to hear of your losses.
I am not in a position to help you, as I am more than one thousand miles away (and financially 'holding my own', but no more than that), but for what it is worth, my heart goes out to you in this time of loss.
I like cats too, and I probably would have done the same as you apparently did, in attempting to rescue them.
Hope all goes well from this point.
X
Thank all that is good, you and the kitties are okay! I'm also sorry to hear about the possessions, sure it is most fortunate that no lives were lost, but the irreplaceable items are still sorely missed.
Best wishes mane!
