Fresh US air strikes have again killed at least six Afghan civilians, including women and children in the eastern province of Kunar.

Seventeen others were also injured in the overnight attacks which hit civilian homes in Watapour district of the province, a Press TV correspondent reported Monday.

"We were asleep and all of a sudden the roof collapsed," said a 14-year-old boy who was wounded in the strikes.

"I don't remember anything. I got to know here that my father, my mother, my brother and my younger sister have all been killed and I am wounded", the boy added.

A spokesman for the US military in Kabul said he had no information about the strike which came only a week after US-led troops killed four civilians including a new born baby during an operation in the eastern province of Khost.

The number of civilians killed in operations by foreign forces in Afghanistan has increased during the past few months.

According to the United Nations, more than 2,000 Afghan civilians were killed throughout 2008. NATO, however, claims that only 200 civilians were killed by foreign troops last year.

The civilian blood on the hands of US-led troops has deteriorated relations between Kabul and the West, which nearly has 65,000 troops stationed in war-ravaged Afghanistan.

Afghan President Hamed Karzai has strongly criticized foreign forces for the civilian casualties, saying "innocent people are becoming the victims of reckless operations by foreign forces" and has called for a review of foreign military presence in the country.
