(NaturalNews) A recent CBS article wrote of wholesale beef prices rising to the point where retail beef sales are dropping. Unhappy customers are asking how much is the beef now instead of where's the beef.
The Department of Agriculture (USDA) claims the cattle herd in the USA is at its lowest since 1952, at only 91 million. The USDA also claims the cost of grains for feeding cattle before slaughter has risen and the herds are smaller because of severe droughts in Texas and Oklahoma during the summer of 2011. (1)
The diversion of grains in to biofuels for motor vehicles is another factor. (2) These are apparently legitimate logistical reasons for beef's price surges, as well as other foods. There are other less recognized reasons as well for rising food prices. (3)

Spring is my favorite time of year Maria, if I got my wish Spring would come early. Renewal is such a needed and beautiful thing. The seeds are being planted, we need to tend them and nourish them so they grow strong. We need more gardeners.
When banksters have too much bailout money in their hands they go bet it on commodities instead of using it on good old fashioned honest banking.
Are we going to have an American spring?
i buy from the local farms here and sometimes i go one state over for good thing from the farms there.. I wish there was more i could get from the farms. i hate food from super markets but we all have to eat to live. If I had my choice i would never eat what they are selling again but that isn't going to happen any time soon.. i like the natual news guy ..
All food is going up phenomenally. The article mentions the price of corn going up..honestly it is better to eat grass fed meat anyway. Hopefully people will try to combat this by eating more locally and doing some of their own seasonal harvesting and preservation.
