It had to happen sooner or later. Reportedly, health problems that caused a number of All Star Band Concerts to be cancelled in 2024 occurred as a result of Ringo’s medical issues. After visiting with a number of specialists across the globe, it’s been decided that he should retire and seek rest in his final days while Barbara, his wife of 40 years acts as his hospice nurse. I’m sure that most of us would like to remember Ringo at his finest and doing some of his amazing work, so I’ll include 3 performances that prove what a precise and clean drummer he was but also that his rolls were also excellent accents to the timing changes.
Yer Blues from the White Album

This next version of Yer Blues was done by a combo consisting of John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and drummer, Mitch Mitchell from the Jimi Hendrix Experience. If you compare the drum performances of the Beatles version of Yer Blues compared to the improvised band called "The Dirty Macs" that John Lennon had formed you'll see the contrast in drum styles between Mitch Michelle and with him being a technical drummer and more of a soloist, just why Ringo stands out with clarity and preciseness.

The final song will be Ringo on drums singing and playing the drums brilliantly as he sings an old rock'n'roll tune form the 50's with the legendary Carl Perkins. A really excellent performance of both men!

In an era of much amateur and shallow music we look back and appreciate the personalities who made unforgettable contributions to the art of music.
God Bless Richard Starkey.
