Verizon is launching a tech news site that bans stories on U.S. spying

Verizon is getting into the news business. What could go wrong?

The most-valuable, second-richest telecommunications company in the world is bankrolling a technology news site called SugarString.com. The publication, which is now hiring its first full-time editors and reporters, is meant to rival major tech websites like Wired and the Verge while bringing in a potentially giant mainstream audience to beat those competitors at their own game.

There’s just one catch: In exchange for the major corporate backing, tech reporters at SugarString are expressly forbidden from writing about American spying or net neutrality around the world, two of the biggest issues in tech and politics today.

Unsurprisingly, Verizon is deeply tangled up in both controversies.

How odd they did not buy all the alternate domain names so anyone could purchase one of them and do the opposite of Verizon.  I recommend someone do that if you have the money.  Verizon.. if they are the owner only got a two year contract on the domain.  I find that odd too.  The last thing odd is they are not hosting this site on their own server.  Or at least it does not look like they are.  There are 322 domains registered by Verizon but there is 6,000 domains hosted on the server.  So is this a fluke they own the whole crapola or what?

The owner from what I can tell of the server is MARKMONITOR INC which is a company that boast Domain Management, Anti Piracy, Anti Fraud.  Meh  they just opened a can of worms.  Say you are very secure and Russia and China comes calling.   What ever the case i don't care I have no intentions on reading anything of news on the Verizon site.  I just about had it from all of the major news media players.  But the tech companies there is no way they can beat wired and cnet.
