Officer: Shooting at Muhammad cartoon contest in Texas

GARLAND, Texas (AP) — A provocative contest for cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad in a Dallas suburb was put on lockdown Sunday night and attendees were being evacuated after authorities reported a shooting outside the building.

An officer dressed in SWAT gear took the stage toward the end of the event at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland and told attendees, including an Associated Press reporter, that a shooting had occurred. He said one officer and two suspects were shot.

It wasn't immediately clear if the shooting was related to the event.

ISIS CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY FOR GARLAND SHOOTING; GET READY FOR MORE 'ISIS' ATTACKS'

But who won the contest dang it???... ;)

How about a "Holocaust" cartoon?  Try drawing one of those and let me know how it turns out.  I just looked at the latest ADL web posting accusing Arabs of antisemitism for a cartoon showing an Israeli with an ISIS puppet in one hand pointing a finger at it and saying "bang".  This is actually very close to the truth by the way.  Where does this desire to ridicule religious founders come from?  Incitement without any redeeming social value.  As for the creator of this mess, she apparently believes it's ok to vilify signers of a BDS petition...like myself.  How's that for free speech--or hypocrisy.

Humor often uses ridicule. Free speech often uses humor. Either way, if one takes up arms over ridicule of their religion, they've just proved that they lack any sense of spirituality whatsoever. Either their religion is shit or their take on their religion is shit. One or the other. Either way, I'm not surrendering Free Speech over someone's feelings getting hurt.

You know, I agree with you in a way.  So a prominent and powerful religious group says it is ok to steal from and kill non members, that non-members are animals in human form meant to serve them, and that it's ok to have sex with baby girls up to 3 years old and little boys up to 9 is a legitimate target for ridicule?  Elizabeth Dilling merely reprinted these works and was put on trial for sedition by FDR in the early 1940s.  She was acquitted after the works--reproduced in "The Plot Against Christianity" by Dilling--were shown to the jury.  Since it is not OK to ridicule such things according to the ADL and other sectarian organizations--and definite steps will be taken against you (including violence) if you dare--does that mean you are saying their religion is shit and they lack any sense of spirituality?  Just checking.

In this case, drawing cartoons about a venerated religious figure has no redemptive value and is incitement designed to allow martial law in Texas as agents of a foreign power (controlled by the U.S. and Israel) were involved. (This reduces Texas to the status of a combat zone--just as ISIS magically appeared in Ukraine to allow NATO intervention.)  A reasonable case could be made that this is an Israeli-organized "Operation Gladio" type event.
