website, or the author's site. I strongly advise you all to read them.
It's a compelling and eye-opening look at the counterculture so often seen through rose-colored glasses. It may come as a shock for some to find that many of the "anti-establishment" cultural icons were not quite what they seemed. But some of the music of those times is still good- you can enjoy the music without following the piper. Well researched and entertaining to read, the series is a must-read for all.
It's also a warning. Beware those claiming to challenge the status quo who emerge from nowhere, fully-formed and famous in the way only the establishment itself can do. It was like this with Obama too.
