Why SHOULD he care? He's got his COG 'pass' for the nearest bunker, and a pot full of gold!
What if 'someone' was trying to goad the US and Russia into a 'cage fight'? What if they figured they could wait until we beat each other senseless, then steal everything left of value (even things bolted down) and ship it away, while we were 'out of it'?
I watched two bulls fighting on the streets of Old Delhi once. The spectators waited until they locked horns, then started beating them with sticks to goad them on. Then they started placing bets. Needless to say the bulls tore out all of the 'sidewalk shops' for BLOCKS, and they didn't care, either.
