COLUMBUS (Lisa Rantala) -- New details in the bribery scandal hitting city hall indicate federal investigators searched the home of a city-level lobbyist and took documents.
Mike Miller, attorney for John Raphael, told ABC 6/FOX 28 that his client has yet to speak with federal investigators but his legal team has met with agents at least three times.
Raphael lobbied for the red light camera company Red Flex whose former CEO pleaded guilty last week to bribing city leaders in exchange for municipal court contracts. Federal court records indicate Karen Finley bribed those official using Raphael who contribute contributions in the politicians’ campaigns.
Both city council president Andrew Ginther and Mayor Michael Coleman received subpoenas in the investigation.
Ginther received a $21,000 campaign contribution in 2011 shortly after Red Flex gave the Ohio Democratic Party $20,000.
Mayor Coleman received at least three contributions from Raphael including a $5,000 in 2011 and two contributions in 2007 totaling $7,000.
