According to a report on the Hacker Post website, the hacktivist group Anonymous along with several groups of hackers are planning a massive cyber-attack against Israel on the 7th of April 2013. Organizers of the attack are threatening to “erase Israel from the Internet.”
The campaign was initiated and announced by a hacker who goes by the name of Anon Ghost. Titled under the name of #OpIsrael, the campaign is being supported by a myriad of known hacktivists with a history of carrying out state-targeted attacks. A few solidarity attacks are already underway. A few state-run websites including properties owned by Israel have also been affected.
Israel is apparently taking the threats seriously, with defensive preparations underway. Officer Ben Avi, Director of online group Accessible Government told Haaretz,
