Power Outages Could Last for Days After Deadly Snowstorm Hits Northeast

Millions of customers there reported power losses early Sunday, including more than 650,000 in Massachusetts. In New Hampshire, 200,000 are without electricity. "If you are without power, you should expect to be without power for a prolonged period of time," Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Saturday night. Malloy says more than 750,000 customers are without power. That breaks a record set when the remnants of Hurricane Irene hit the state in August. Malloy says people could be without electricity for as long as a week. More than 617,000 people are without power in New Jersey. Utilities in Pennsylvania are saying more than 423,000 are without power, and Western Maryland had more than 29,000 outages. In the New York City area, more than 70,000 had lost power. Comment by Starr on November 8, 2011 at 9:26am: I got my power back on Saturday after a week long without power in the cold! There are still customers here in Ct without power, going on 2 weeks now. This is absolutely absurd! The reason for the long delay is because the electric company didn't pay the contractors the 2 million dollars they owed from the hurricane/tropical storm. The contractors refused to begin work until the check cleared. With the billions of dollars the electric companies make off the people and they can't pay there fricken bill is baffling. Greed! Especially when we know there is free energy out there and it's being supressed! I'm HAPPY to see that so many are waking up to what's going on. The veils are being ripped off at God speed! Whoooohoooo!
