Some drivers along a busy North Fort Worth street on Friday were stopped at police roadblock and directed into a parking lot, where they were asked by federal contractors for samples of their breath, saliva and even blood. It was part of a government research study aimed at determining the number of drunken or drug-impaired drivers. "It just doesn't seem right that you can be forced off the road when you're not doing anything wrong," said Kim Cope, who said she was on her lunch break when she was forced to pull over at the roadblock on Beach Street.

It would be interesting to get pulled over (I'm probably cleaner than the folks giving the tests ... it's been a good 30 years since I used anything that would raise eyebrows) and see what resulted from a categorical refusal worded something along the lines of "Absent probable cause, I refuse to submit to any tests of my person, whether active or passive in nature, without a warrant. Since you are not asserting probable cause and have not presented a warrant, we thus have no further business to discuss, I'm leaving now."

If arrested while leaving, I think any decent judge would have a problem with the "voluntary" nature of the testing. If he/she could be convinced that the testing was not voluntary, then the legal basis for making it mandatory would be up for grabs.

BTW, if the guys waving you into the impoundment area aren't armed, they aren't cops. You don't have to obey some dickhead with a flashing light stuck up his ass.

Hello, it might have something to do with, "Serving and protecting", that would be serving and protecting themselves these greed ravaged bastards

I bet they found plenty of 'volunteers'.

Down with drunk drivers. The satisfying thing about being picked on by a bully is the "thunk" sound the back of his head makes when it hits the ground. At least the cops don't yet demand sex favors when in groups.

Was it not a government campaign by Nancy Reagan that said (Just say no.)?

This kind of stuff is getting way beyond anything acceptable! Americans, FreeMen, FreeWomen, reach deep down inside yourself and bring up the courage to tell them to f*ck off.

Do not allow them to intimidate you or your family.

This is a test, if we fail this test our children will pay the price. The little faces that you love will be slaves or dead before your very eyes.

Do not allow them to intimidate you into giving up anything that is yours, by rights of fairness. Stand tall and proud, demand equal treatment, demand your rights.

You do not have to succumb to the ravings and demands of a government gone mad!!!!

The day one of those imbecils tries to take my blood (OR saliva) is they day I am likely to die. Because I will kill them to keep them from taking my blood (OR saliva) and I will NOT be taken alive. If this is what America has come to, and what the American people have submitted to, then I see NO point in living here anymore. I will NOT play along with such bvllsh!t.

Can you say, Seig Heil? How about "domestic enemy"? "Evil regime"? The courts are no recourse, they're so corrupt, all they are is an extension of the police state, law be damned.

That is the part of Ft. Worth I grew up in (close to Beach Street).

Now?  it is a rough area from what I had been told recently.

The Breath test has been around a long time...BUT!  If they weren't doing anything wrong?  What the hell has happened to my own neighborhood?!

100% voluntary; but they basically force you to pull over and into a parking lot.

100% voluntary, at a cost of $8 million dollars.

And yet, there are people who can't get food, from food banks.

One really has to wonder, why we allow these elected people, and their civil service entourage such far reaching power over us.
