Following a Soviet EMP attack on the US, the US Govt capitulates to a Soviet/UN alliance who now administer control by 'Peacekeeping forces'.
The United States is split into multiple "administrative areas", travel and communications between the various zones is heavily restricted, the youth are indoctrinated in the new 'ideology' and the US itself is to be reformed into new 'client states'.
The parallells with what is evidently coming will not be lost on those who have not seen this 1980's miniseries before.
Although, as humanity always seems to discover, reality is always far darker than fiction...

Comment by Pit Bull on January 2, 2013 at 6:26pm Very plausible scenario, Russia gets tired of America being a bully comes to occupy America, finds it quite simple to take over since the citizens have given up and are seriously divided. I dont remember this show, but seems to hit pretty close to home on lots of issues that are playing out.

However, it should be remembered that this 14 & 1/4 hour miniseries, created such a controversy, that ABC television produced an informercial to promote and defend the series shortly before it had even been broadcast.
ABC News then followed up by devoting an entire Viewpoint special to it -
Notable, for Ted Turner (CNN) declaring Amerika to be "irresponsible television" .

I doubt a show like this would make it on TV now a days. Could potentially cause a mass awakening, I would like to say it would for certain, but based on previous track record of average citizen who knows. If youve got 14-15 hours to kill get some popcorn and get comfy.

Around the time of this series, the CIA was getting its final control of ABC.
Perhaps this presentation was a whistle-blowers attempt at exposing the world as we knew it.

Look what happens when any modern TV show promoting a constitutional (i.e Jericho) or libertarian (i.e Firefly) philosophy is broadcast. They are cancelled, even if they pick up a large following in syndication.
