Don't waste your time with Wholesale Direct Metals

Called Wholesale Direct Metals today. Spot price for gold was at $1,186 oz. - silver at $18.38 oz.
I spoke with a nice gentleman to find out about prices etc. I told him that I was only interested in the gold and silver eagles and over the years I have always bought from Apmex and Midas a few times. He quoted me a price, $1,240.50 oz. and $20.19 oz. for the silver. Good price! Attempted to place my usual monthly order (2 - 1 oz.gold eagles and 100 - 1 oz. silver eagles) with aspirations of saving a few bucks while at the same time supporting patriot radio. Before I could ask about shipping, time etc he told me that he only deals with orders that are $10.000 and up. "Oh, o.k. sir, I understand." Before I could say thanks for your time and have a good evening he cut me off and said in that elitist vocal tone these exact words...
"We only deal with people who are serious investors...we are trying to get some real money around here!"

So .I guess Apmex is still my best resource for buying and selling precious metals!

I have first-hand experience with Wholesale Direct Metals - they are one of my clients! First, the story C. writes about I would have to say is uncharacteristic for WDM. Second, I know when customers don't meet their minimum, WDM goes to google, looks up the closest coin shop, and tells them to buy from their local dealer. As usually, the local coin guy has decent prices that rival the online buys and e-bay.
WDM is definitely not elitist - they sponsor Jack Blood, Oracle Radio, and Revere Radio among others. Directing someone to buy local is definitely not an elitist move. I have no idea what the other company C. names is like (I would rather not plug my client's competitors via blogs) but I deal with WDM on a daily basis and they are straight dealers.
