Top central banker's Clinton donation puts Fed in political crosshairs
Revelations that Federal Reserve Gov. Lael Brainard donated to Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign has created a tough situation for the central bank, at a time when Donald Trump has been accusing the Fed of making policy based on political bias.
A day after Fed Chair Janet Yellen found herself in the hot seat on Capitol Hill over the Brainard donation, Kansas City Fed President Esther George danced around the issue on Thursday in a CNBC interview.
"The law allows for Fed officials to make those kind of donations. There's nothing illegal about that," George told "Squawk Box."
In general, George said: "We're always sensitive to what appearances are, and that's built into our code of conduct and other things."

George acknowledged the Fed has been under increased scrutiny during the 2016 presidential campaign, as Trump repeatedly accused Yellen of keeping interest rates low to keep the economy stable to burnish President Barack Obama's legacy and help Clinton slide into the White House.

they always have been private, they were never gov in any sense of the word, etc. 1913 is meaningless as in, means nothing. this GOV has always been evil from the beginning and is now. they look out for themselves, and always will. GOV was never meant for one, to run by themselves, as in LAWYERS, it was meant to be run by the people, and for the people. what happened is this, it got out of hand because no one was watching, and it got worse. it was suppose to be a mix from almost no GOV, and 100% no GOV. TODAY WHAT IS IT? IT IS CONFUSION BEYOND ANYONE, NO ONE READS THE LAWS/REGULATIONS, AND THOSE THAT DO CANNOT UNDERSTAND THEM! THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM IS TODAY A "LETS MAKE A DEAL". JUSTICE? NOW THAT IS FUNNY, WHEN A 11YR OLD IS TRIED AS AN ADULT, WHEN ITS BETTER TO BE "RICH AND GUILTY THEN POOR AND INNOCENT", THEN MY FRIEND WE ARE ALL IN VERY DEEP SHIT, AND ARE ALL BENDING OVER AND TAKING IT UP THE OLE POOPSHOOT, ALL OF US! HAVE NO DOUBT AS TO IF WHAT I SAY IS TRUE, IT IS!
