just a personal observation here I've noticed locally anyways. Not sure if this is widespread around the Country, but I have noticed here for about the past 18 months or so I have noticed something different about the coin change I get back from say a convenience store purchase or gas station. Seems to me I'm seeing a lot, and I mean more than usual, a lot of the change I get back is of OLD money...old old coins. gotta 1914 penny and a buffalo nickel all in the same transaction the other day. I get old money back in change constantly lately. 50¢ pieces, Kennedy Dollars (post 1964-not silver), 20-30-40 year old coins constantly.
Just now dug in pocket to see what i got right now, pulled out change and right there, right now I have a 1976 & 1980 penny, a 69 quarter, and a 1979 nickel
maybe its just my weird ass that notices the dumb shit, could be all my imagination, I dunno...my theory is that folks are just plain broke, so now they are breaking out the penny jars, the change jars, the sofa change, the washing machine change and starting to cash that in now. Anybody else seeing this similar scenario??...or is it just the broke ass South??..lol
