I know that not all people who go into science feel this way. I think that science itself has been exploited by the government and corporations. I had a boyfriend who was an EPA scientist and he told me how corrupt it was. He refused to be a part of it and became a teacher. He said he just couldn't live with himself and work for them. You get a lot of sincere, smart kids who want to make a difference and they go through years of difficult classes and then when they get a job, they find out what is really expected of them. It must be the same for journalism students too. And we're always being told how far behind in science and math we are than the rest of the world.
