I've only been a member of the Libertarian Party for about three years now. Prior to last years election I decided I would like to become more active. Researching info and contacts has led me to a series of unfortunate events.
First, the Ohio county I live in is still considered a developing county so nothing is really established for me locally. Initially this sounded kind of exciting. How cool would it be to get in on something just starting out. I've come to find out that this isn't very good for me at all. At least so far. This leads me to the next point.
The county rep in charge of developing the party turns out to be pretty worthless so far. He never returns calls or replies to e-mails. There is no commmunication with him at all. How exactly does one develop a political patry in a county without communicating to...well, anyone?
I had to send an e-mail to the development coordinator for the state of Ohio to try to get an answer. Hopefully he replies soon. Hell, I'd be happy with just a reply at this point.
I t just seems so unfortunate that the Libertarian message isn't being delivered. I mean, is the guy responsible purposefully blockading the flow of info? Is he a red or blue spy? Good grief! As ridiculous as it may sound, I wouldn't put it past the other parties.
I will continue to get the information I need from the responsible persons I need it from. Maybe I could become the new development coordinator...hmmm. I see surrounding counties having regularly schedule group meetings and doing good things and here our county sits dead in the water. It seems a waste to not get the message out.
Wish me luck...

Comment by RedLeg on January 8, 2013 at 3:19pm OK - my voice, so to speak, has been heard. Brad Lowry, the Field Development Director for the Libertarian Party of Ohio responded to my e-mail. Check this out:
I made the recommendation to our Executive Committee that they remove Knox County from our list of County Development Group's. Ted wasn't responding to me and to other leaders in the party, so I knew he wasn't responding to anyone else.
I am looking for someone to step into that void if that is something that would interest you.
Brad Lowry
Field Development Director, LPO
Awesome! What an ooportunity. Now I need to respond and I'm finding myself hesitant. Am I really ready to take this on?
Comment by RedLeg on January 8, 2013 at 3:28pm BTW, I really do appreciate the support guys. Thanks!
