Unemployment Offices To Add Armed Guards

INDIANAPOLIS -- Armed security guards will be on hand at 36 unemployment offices around Indiana in what state officials said is a step to improve safety and make branch security more consistent.

No specific incidents prompted the action, Department of Workforce Development spokesman Marc Lotter told 6News' Norman Cox.

Lotter said the agency is merely being cautious with the approach of an early-December deadline when thousands of Indiana residents could see their unemployment benefits end after exhausting the maximum 99 weeks provided through multiple federal extension periods.

"Given the upcoming expiration of the federal extensions and the increased stress on some of the unemployed, we thought added security would provide an extra level of protection for our employees and clients," he said.

Some offices have had guards for nearly two years but those guards were hired on a regional basis, meaning some offices had armed guards while others did not, Lotter said.

The cost of the armed guards varies dramatically around the state. Lotter said the agency is trying to be more consistent and that it plans to employ armed guards in all 36 offices where unemployment insurance benefits are handled.

The overall cost for the security is $1 million, paid for with federal funds designated for administration of the unemployment system, Lotter said.

Other agency offices that provide job training or are not full-service branches will continue to have unarmed guards.

Lotter said state employees in the affected offices have also recently gone through stress-management training in which they learn how to respond appropriately to angry clients.

"This is a stressful time for people in the economy," he said. "That's why we're not only taking this step (of hiring guards), but we're also increasing our training for our staff to be able to help people as they're trying to cope with these changes."

California does not have walk-in unemployment offices. You can only apply on the internet.
You're so right about Indiana Xhacked, parts of the state crumbled 30 or more years ago.

A comment on this story:
The state of Indiana was one of the primary places that 'second-source' suppliers to the BIG THREE USED to be housed. All those weird mechanical and electronic gizmos that made the power door locks work, or the 'push-button' windows go up and down, in that shiny new Ford, Chevy, or Dodge, USED to come from, in a LARGE PART, INDIANA.
OH HELL, it's way cheaper to build these gizmos in MEXICO, SRI LANKA, SOUTH KOREA, or the MAINLAND (China), and think of the rise in the price of the STOCK as we 'OUTSOURCE' a few hundred thousand jobs...
CIVIL UNREST? No PROBLEM! WE have the DHS and the 'public-private merger' companies like XE (blackwater), who have already subcontracted to the Federal Resreve (oops, the Federal Govenment), and those Black Hawk helicopters, and FLIR, and thernal imaging technology, and ARMED GUARDS paid for by CONGRESS (USAPATRIOT) , in order to 'take down' any resistance!

"This is a stressful time for people in the economy," he said. "That's why we're not only taking this step (of hiring guards), but we're also increasing our training for our staff to be able to help people as they're trying to cope with these changes."

How is all that 'HOPE' and 'CHANGE' affecting YOU?

This will go great with all the people who already carry their weapons with them. Guns for everyone! Even the babies. Especially the babies.

Thanks for the transcript.
I tried to open this link at lunch today, on one of the 'usual' sites, but it opened on a BLANK PAGE (either a dead link, or an interception). The Indy newspaper site opened, but the STORY would not. I tried several times...

YES, they are expecting what they have been told to expect, Nikki, and THEY are also actively supressing this information, at the same time.
'Steve's' site was the place I went this afternoon...

I see active predictions within the macrosphere that are placing the price of SILVER to hit $30.00 within the next 2 and a half weeks or so.the mogambu is beginning to retreat to the MBOD, Tyler Durden at Zero Hedge is predicting the worst, Peter Schiff is beginning to sense reality, the Economic Collapse Blog is posting about TEOTWAWNI, and several other (in the dozens) of sites are sounding the 'red alert'; SO, it would only be 'logical' that Indianapolis would begin to post ARMED GUARDS at the 'unemployment office', in order to pre-plan for the COMING HORDES of people...

Hang on, baby, you ain't seen NOTHING yet!
