Al Gore and friends spoke at the hoity-toity big-shot annual gathering in Davos, Switzerland. Among the plans unveiled is one to crowd all humans into big cities and force us to use mass transit instead of automobiles.
Taking control away from local governments, they want global controls that outlaw developments that give people too much living space (as they judge it). Developers would be required to meet minimum population density requirements and to locate near mass transit. No more wide open spaces for people!
How ironic that this occurs while California has just granted extra living space to chickens, guaranteeing them room to stretch, flap their wings and move around. Egg farmers in other states must honor these standards or they’re not permitted to sell their products in California. Courts so far have refused to halt the Golden State’s effort to control interstate commerce in eggs.
That’s why egg prices keep going up. One estimate says it costs $40 per bird extra to enlarge the cages at egg farms. Multiply that by 300-million layer hens in America and you see how much new cost is being passed along to consumers.
